CEF EXPLORES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH FACILITATORS WITHOUT BORDERS: Tuesday, at the 52nd Annual Creative Problem Solving Institute (CPSI), the Creative Education Foundation (CEF) and Facilitators Without Borders (FWB) www.fwb.ca signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) announcing that the two not-for-profit organizations are exploring a strategic partnership in which the pool of talented facilitators from the CPSI - in particular graduates Facilitating Creative Leadership (FCL) - become available for training and delivery of FWB pro bono work as a training ground for CEF community projects.

"We're sharing our energies and collaborating on projects," said (FWB) president John Sedgwick. "The majority of our facilitators were trained here [at CPSI] ... now we're coming back to our roots." The Creative Education Foundation is also thrilled with the agreement. "We believe that it is ultimately a win-win for both organizations," said CEF executive director Victoria Cliche.

"Through this collaboration, FWB is able to draw from well-trained resources and CEF is able to offer our conference participants and members an opportunity to do meaningful work throughout the world."

Facilitators Without Borders travels the world to communities faced with complex public sector problems and few resources. Its facilitators work with people in the community to find creative solutions to local problems. Past successes include a new trash removal system for Marcos Juárez, Argentina, and an after-school program for the Somali community in Toronto. "We don't go in and say, 'We're going to solve your problem,'" Sedgwick said. "Instead, we ask if they can get their leadership together, and then we hold the space and create activities and events through which they can solve their own problem." The first project for the combined team has not been determined, but wherever they go, this dynamic group knows they will have a positive impact.

Morris I. Stein (1921-2006): Sadly our dear friend and colleague, Moe Stein passed away in early May 2006.Tributes to Moe Stein are pouring in from all over the world. The life and works of Moe will be celebrated at the Creative Problem Solving Institute (June 25-30 in Chicago).

CEF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NAMED: CEF Co-Presidents David Magellan Horth and Hedria Lunken are pleased to announce that Victoria Cliche has been named executive director of the Creative Education Foundation, effective December 1, 2005.
